Thank you to the participants in this awe-inspiring project, facilitated by Sandra Shackelford, under the instruction of mosaic artist, Margy Cottingham. Beacon House is sponsoring this project as a tribute to the heroic journey of those walking alone, with friends, and family members on a path of healing—emotionally, spiritually, and physically. The journey continues as we offer the final series of these workshops to create the second side of 24 individual mosaics—We will complete the Wall of 48 mosaics in September 2011. “Connections. From the process of brokenness comes connections. As the tesserae, the small bits of glass connect, the image forms. It’s like any art form -- painting, drawing, the writing process -- Life itself. You take that first step, place that first piece of broken glass and something else takes over.… Bring us your hands, your hearts. Bring us your words, your stories. Place them, the shards of memory, here among these bits of broken glass. Let us assemble them together. Let us work together for hope and healing.” JOURNAL ENTRY: Monday April 19, 2010 Sandra Shackelford
